It all began in one small room at 70 Bavaria Road, rented from Islington Council in 1986. At the time, we only had the resources for one full-time and one part-time worker. Despite such challenges, we were still able to develop services which catered for the need of the elderly, youth and women. We moved to No. 33 Giesbach Road on 12 July 1992, and continue to grow even further. On 1st October 2008, with many of your blessings, we moved to where we are today, our new home at No. 21 Hatchard Road N19 4NG…
The following are some of our milestones and achievements:-

Our advice Workers have dealt with over 11,300 cases since 1995;

Over 187,500 luncheons and meals-on-wheels have been provided by our dedicated kitchen staff since June 1992 to 2008;

‘Walking the Way to Health’ programme attracted over 7,000 participants;

An ‘Awards for All’ grant enabled the publication of ‘The Millennium Faces- Chinese Older People in the UK: a collection of black & white images capturing the experience of the older Chinese population who emigrated to Britain in the 1950’s;

Similarly, another ‘Awards for All’ grant allowed member of ICA’s women’s Group to create and publish ‘Wok With Me’ and “Eat Healthy, Kids Happy”: a collection of recipes celebrating the diversity of Chinese cuisine as well as healthy eating;

The only Chinese charity organisation in England received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2005;
-
ICA’s Chinese Youth Counselling, Family Therapy & Parenting Project Continues to provide an invaluable service in bridging the gap between parents and children;

ICA’s Youth Group ages between 12 and 28 successfully wrote, produced and performed the first ever bilingual musical ‘When Yellow River meets The Thames’ in 2004 and the second bilingual musical “Changing Fortunes” in April 2007. The script serves to reflect the daily family life of a Chinese family living here in Britain addressing issues such as generation gap, friends and sibling relationships;

Capital Appeal Fund has already raised over £200,000 between December 2005 and October 2010.
Our History and Achievements 歷史與成就
1986年, 依士靈頓華人協會於Bavaria Road 70號成立。彼時協會會址乃向依士靈頓市議會借得,且只得全職與兼職員工各一名。雖然人力單薄,協會依然堅持為長者、青少年和婦女提供服務;1992年七月十二日,協會遷至知己路33號,發展日益茁壯;至2008年十月一日,在各界支持下,協會於吃茶路21號安戶,是為今日依士靈頓華人協會會所所在處。
協會發展里程碑及成就

自1995年起, 我們完成了11,300宗諮詢;

由1992年六月至2008年, 協會大廚為會員提供了超過150,000次午餐會及送餐服務;

“黃金歲月萬步行”活動吸引了超過7,000名參與者;

協會得到“國家獎劵基金”(National Lottery Awards for All) 贊助,出版《千禧臉譜---英國華人長者黑白攝影集》一書。此書由構思至創作均由協會一手包辦,展示1950年代至今,居英華人的生活面貌;

協會婦女組得到“國家獎劵基金”贊助,創作印行《樂在廚中》及《孩子健康,父母心安》兩本健康食譜,冀望透過健康美食拉近親子距離;

協會乃2005年度英倫區唯一榮獲 "英國英女皇志願服務機構獎”之華人慈善團體;

“青年諮詢, 家庭治療及育兒專題計劃” 持續為家庭親子提供服務;

協會由12-28歲青少年組成之青年組, 分別於2004及2007年自編自導自演”當黃河遇上泰晤士河” 及”力爭上游” 雙語音樂劇. 兩齣音樂劇均體現了居英華人家庭, 其日常生活中兩代代溝, 年輕一代交友及手足關係等問題;

由2005年十二月至2010年十月, “協會會址籌款”經已籌得善款超過200,000英鎊。
